Equester Solutions is an equine consulting firm dedicated to assisting equine and farming enthusiasts in creating the profitable horse farm of their dreams.
After realizing the need for full-service equine consultants, Tara and Dean Kurtz knew it was time to follow their passion for horses and building horse farms.They founded Equester Solutions to provide horse lovers with the necessary tools and expertise to create thriving horse farms—from horse barn location to marketing and herd management services.
The Story behind Equester Solutions
Though it would be years before the business was formally established, Equester Solutions began when Tara Kurtz fell in love with horses at the young age of eight. Drawn by the incomparable feeling of becoming one with the gentle soul she was riding, Tara became an avid rider and expert on hunter / jumpers. She learned everything she could about the proper way to care for horses and, over the years, became an equine authority.
In 2002, with her husband Dean and their two sons, Tara moved to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to help her father, W. Wayne Booker, former Vice Chairman of Ford Motor Company, realize a lifelong dream of owning an Arabian horse farm. In August of that year, they broke ground on Fox Meadow Farm.
Tara and Dean faced an unusual challenge: the Arabian breed had a reputation as flighty, nervous, and untrainable. Tara discovered the breed had shifted from a powerful, athletic endurance horse to a halter show horse. She created a plan to restore the Arabian horse to its roots, and in just three years of breeding, her strategy yielded two National Championships for Fox Meadow Farm in FMF Tarif (2007) and FMF Arabi (2009).
Fox Meadow Farm flourished as the only national-caliber Arabian Sport Horse farm in the United States, and Tara knew her life’s purpose was creating horse farms for the breeding and showing of champions. Tara and Dean grew Fox Meadow Farm to a $10 million training and breeding facility that managed 32 horses. The farm was well-designed, functional, and efficient for horse breeding and horse training year-round.
Committed to sharing their expertise with other horse lovers, Tara and Dean founded Equester Solutions to use their experience, knowledge, and passion to help owners build horse farms that advance breeds and produce champions.
